This surreal take on the Orpheus myth mixes the ancient and modern into a dream-like journey into the underworld. Inspired by the play by Cocteau, The Orpheus Project features an Orpheus who is so obsessed with the meaning of life that he fails to live it, as well as his desperately jealous bride Eurydice. Both, through a series of mishaps, encounter Death, who just happens to be a 1940’s torch singer decked out in a sequin gown. The audience is asked to accompany Orpheus on his journey into the underworld and hopefully back again. With a quirky heart and an avant garde spirit, this performance examines the ephemeral quality of love and life.
